Katie's Homemade Pizza

Yield: 2 Pizzas or 16 medium slices.
Prep Time: 20-30 minutes
Cooking Time: 12 minutes

Crust Ingredients:
1 packet active dry yeast
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup warm water (not too hot)
2 tbs. extra virgin olive oil
1/2 minced garlic clove

Mix dry ingredients in a bowl until well blended. Add 1 cup warm water, olive oil, and garlic and blend with electric mixer until well blended. Cover and let dough sit for 10 minutes. Knead dough for 6-8 minutes and then roll or toss and place on pizza pan. Heat oven to 425 degrees.

Sauce:
2 cans diced tomatoes
1 8 oz. can tomato paste
1 lb, ground beef or turkey
1 large banana pepper diced or minced
1/2 - 1 garlic clove minced
1 cup mushrooms ddiced dry pizza seasonings

Brown ground beef or turkey and add in pizza seasonings to preference. While the meat is cooking, pour tomatoes and tomato paste into a bowl and mash/mix together until almost a puree. This will be chunky so if you do not like chuncky then I suggest using tomato sauce instead of diced tomatoes. The diced tomatoes give the sauce a more fresh taste. After the meat is fully cooked add in the tomato mixture, mushrooms, garlic, and banana pepper. If the sauce is too thick add some extra virgin olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste.

Pour sauce over the pizza dough and add mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese to preference. Bake pizza for 12 minutes or until the cheese starts to get a golden brown bubble.

Enjoy!
